On Saturday, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the General Secretary of AIADMK, dismissed senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan from key party positions. This decision came just a day after Sengottaiyan issued a ten-day ultimatum for the return of leaders who had left the party. Sengottaiyan, a long-time loyalist of the late party leader J. Jayalalithaa, was relieved from his roles as the secretary of the Erode Rural West district unit and the organizational secretary of AIADMK.

VK Sasikala, a close aide of the late former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, stated on Friday that K.A. Sengottaiyan's call for unity within the AIADMK is now the voice of every party worker. Previously, Sengottaiyan had urged the inclusion of expelled leaders such as VK Sasikala, O. Panneerselvam, and TTV Dhinakaran, arguing that it was essential for the party to win elections.

In a statement, former interim General Secretary Sasikala emphasized that our senior leader and party MLA, dear brother Sengottaiyan, has demonstrated that AIADMK is an indomitable force that cannot be erased by any power. He has stood firmly with the party through many challenging times, showcasing that the blood flowing in his veins is that of AIADMK. His call for unity is now the voice of every party worker and, indeed, the voice of the people of Tamil Nadu. I also emphasize this point.
